There is an ever present effort to change how the public perceives the American Truck Driver. The American Truck Driver has had a long history of pride and honor. (i.e.) you could always count on the truck driver.

In the beginning, most people traveled by car and when their was a problem on the road, an American Truck Driver was often the solution. Songs and stories about truck drivers started to surface in the 1940's This was the verbal message about the positive image truck drivers enjoyed through the mid ‘70’s.

What began as “an important tool” for the professional driver, the C.B. Radio would soon become a problem for the image of the American Truck Driver. The verbal image is now the truck driver him(her)self. The demand for more goods deliver sooner, resulted in the demand for more trucks with more power. (i.e.) truck drivers – resulting in more verbal-visual image.

The “Big Road Radio” is the first broadcast show hosted by a professional driver with 38 years of driving experience. Toot and Macho bring the verbal message, to the public, about the 90% of good honest folks that form the backbone of this vital delivery system.

Stories, songs, poetry and humor about life as an American Truck Driver all add up to the positive verbal message of the American Truck Driver, today and yesterday.

In the 1950’s, Arthur Godfrey initiated the “Knights of the Road” on his popular radio show. A good verbal message about the American Truck Driver. Dr. Sheryl Youngblood, Ph.D., has reestablished the “Knights of the Road” show in Scranton, PA. Joey Holiday “the trucker’s friend” has released more than ten albums of fresh truck driving songs. And now, “Big Road Radio” joins this effort to educate the public bringing to the airwaves the verbal message about the good things professional American Truck Driver’s do.
